Each year Fall brings us the changing colours of trees, pumpkin patch visits with our loved ones and afternoons spent in warm sweaters near the wood-stove with your favourite book.  Fall also however, brings us the notorious phenomenon known as “Flu Season”. Whether it be welcomed into your house from your child coming home with that sore throat from school or just from a simple day at the office, it almost inevitably finds us. Here are some tips and tricks below to help combat Flu Season so you and your family can spend more time in leaf piles and less stuck in bed.

1. You can combat Influenza head on by getting you and your family Flu shots. You can easily schedule an appointment at your local family doctor’s office or at most drugstores and pharmacy’s like London Drugs or Rexall. Flu shots are also usually covered by Medicare or most other health care insurances and are the safest way to protect yourself against potential viruses.

2. Feed your body well. Fall gives us new opportunities to try out amazing spices and seasonal vegetables that help promote a healthy immune system; vegetables like Butternut Squash, Brussel Sprouts and Corn are all in season. We recommend also incorporating spices like Turmeric, Ginger and Cinnamon as they are all amazing to help inflammation, are full of antioxidants and help regulate your digestive system.
